Item Description
7.75x9.75" original glossy featuring 12 team members in uniforms on ball field. c. 1922-23. The highlight of this photo is HOF member Oscar Charleston who stands second from the left. Also at left are Cuban HOF members Alejandro Oms, Pablo Mesa and Isidro Fabre. Has inked date and team name at top center. Moderate aging to reverse. Noticeable vertical crease at center, not affecting the named players. Corner creases and corner pin holes plus tip off top right corner. Images remains glossy, clear and distinct. VG. A similar photo of this team w/Oscar and Oms sold in our Nov. 2011 auction for $13,282. Photo just predates what some call the greatest in Cuban League history, the 1923-24 Santa Clara team. Exceptional team image. From the Richard Merkin Collection and comes with Hake’s COA.
