1939-1940. Each consists of one sided 8.5x14” mimeographed sheets stapled at upper left w/two to four sheets. Dates and notable content are: 1939- Sept. 1 “Shooting Begins On Pinocchio At Burbank”, Bill Tytla drawing comparing him to his character Stromboli, Donald Duck gets award at new York World’s Fair, Nov. 3 Studio attorney Gunther Lessing on coming election, art comparing Clarence Nash to Donald Duck. 1940- June 14 Comic strip dept. not accepting any more gag contributions, three new studio art exhibits, art of musician Ollie Wallace, Oct.18 “Dumbo Sequences Ready, Dragon OK, Bambi Well Handled”, Fantasia publicity, request for employees to bring in Tenggren Snow White backgrounds for exhibit, Dec.27 Review of 1940, Christmas Eve party w/Walt and Roy at Victor’s. Each has various want ads, wedding announcements, etc. First newsletter has age tanning at top, otherwise all are Fine/VF. Rare w/extremely limited distribution just for studio employees. Great behind the scenes insight into life at the studio.
