WORLD WAR I PHOTOGRAPHIC BUTTONS FROM NUMBERED SET OF 98.
Item Description
We had these buttons as a complete set of 98 in our previous auction. Those buttons had backpaper by maker American Artworks of Coshocton. Their name also appears on these 18 buttons but in addition all have advertising for various establishments. Three are for Newark Ohio Grocer, three for Columbus Ohio “Shoe House”, one for South Bend drug store, four for Dothan Alabama steam laundry, three for “Sterling” movie theatre, one for Scranton cigar store, two for Los Angeles clothing company, and one for Ft. Wayne candy kitchen. The button numbers in this group are 1, 2, 17, 18, 29, 32, 36, 37, 40, 42, 44, 52, 55, 56, 67, 71, 95, 96. Couple of the more interesting ones include: Francis Joseph, Austrian Emperor/Son Of Garibaldi Italy’s Liberator/Italian ‘Iron Clad’ Motor (tank)/French Army Flying Auto For Heavy Roads/Air Scouting For French Artillery (with airship in sky)/Kaiser Directing Rapid Fire Guns. Couple of tiny and very trivial traces of wear in reflected light. All are Exc. to NM and display Mint. A rare group.
