Item Description
Each is 1.75” with W&H backpaper used only 1898-1900. First is dated for 1899 and second has no date but we believe from the year earlier and this one has light dust over the backpaper. First item shows three young black boys in hats each eating an ear of corn. Text is “Decatur Corn Carnival And Exposition/Decatur, Ill., Oct. 17, 18, 19, 20 & 21 ’99.” Pair of trivial .25” scratches show only in reflected light. Button displays Mint. Second item shows man with team of horses carrying an exaggerated giant ear of corn upon a wagon bed. Text is “Macon County Corn Carnival/Decatur, Ill./Oct. 26, 27, 28, & 29.” Traces of surface wear in reflected light but displays Mint. From the Hake Collection and comes with Hake’s COA. Both are scarce.
