Item Description
First is 1.25" button with brown oxidation over the metal back but no staining of the beautiful celluloid which depicts a knight in armor holding a bugle and shield with red cross. Pictured at right is "Father Matthew 1849-1909." Additional gold text reads "Holy Family Temperance League Day/Franklin Park July, 26 1909." Small surface wear in reflected light and very tiny 1/16" cut on upper right rim edge although still displaying NM. Second item has a tin reverse and the front celluloid is accented by a brass rope frame. There is no pin. Celluloid is without dot pattern and caption above portrait reads "Rev. Theobald Matthew, 'The Apostle Of Temperance.'" Displays Mint. A rare pair.
