3x4.5x2" tall wedge-shaped cardboard box w/hinged lid contains velvet-covered insert which holds 7/8" dia. gold luster metal case. Repeated dial design on box lid is marked "Trademark" along w/"Popeye" name. No maker indicated and w/o copyright, but c. 1948. Watch was a production item. Box shows wear w/age spotting and lt. edge wear. Fine. Dial design features image of Popeye from waist up at center w/usual numerals, Olive Oyl taking the place of 3 o'clock, Swee'pea marking 6 o'clock and Wimpy marking 9 o'clock. Has original brown leather straps which shows wear and is VG. Watch is wound tight and is not running. VF. Comes w/original foil-covered guarantee folder which has edge/corner tip wear w/some flaking but is Fine. This folder is rare and the first we've seen in our 46 years. Scarce watch w/rare box.
