Item Description
17.5x33.5" triangular scarf w/"The Ghost Rider" name and mask silk-screened images. This is not the current Ghost Rider comic book character, but the earlier western-themed character from the late 1940s that appeared in horror-themed western stories. Character was acquired from Magazine Enterprises by Marvel Comics who continues to use the character under the name The Phantom Rider. Mask was obtained for $1 plus mail coupon and was advertised in early 1950s issues of the comic. We are including a replica of the ad showing nice Ghost Rider image and image of boy trying on mask. "A Scarf...With The Name Of THE GHOST RIDER Bannered On It...And A SPOOKY White Mask That Becomes A GHOST RIDER SKULL When The Mask Is Tied On...!" 11x8.5" area of mask has glow-in-the-dark feature but this no longer glows. Mask has lt. aging and a few scattered pinpoint age spots. Eyes have been cut out as designed. Fine. One of the rarest premiums we've ever seen or offered, we know of only two examples, the other which was NM and came w/original mailer envelope previously sold w/us for over $3,000. See Dick Ayers Ghost Rider original art #2378.
