Item Description
Large and very ornate 9” tall ribbon badge with highly embossed large brass hanger covered in floral patterns and with separate applied silvered metal depiction of the U.S. Capitol. Chain links suspends a brass bar inscribed “Ohio” and this in turn suspends a 1.75” brass medallion showing the state seal. Metal parts are backed by smaller American flag applied over the larger blue fabric ribbon with gold text below lightly worn but easily readable as “Delegate At Large/Republican National Convention/Chicago, Ill./June 21, 1904.” Blue fabric has couple tiny 1/8” areas where a little of the darker blue color is gone and reveals a slightly lighter blue color from underneath but nothing that qualifies as a hole as the blue fabric is double layered. Reverse has large cardboard label by Lilley, Columbus. A great and extremely rare badge from the Theodore Roosevelt 1904 nominating convention. Sen. Charles Dick Collection.
