Item Description
10-5/8x16" thin artboard features original art for page 8 of "Fantastic Four" #148 comic book published by Marvel Comics in July, 1974. Original pen and ink art by Rich Buckler, who is best known for his mid-1970s "Fantastic Four" work and for co-creating Deathlok w/writer Doug Moench. Buckler has drawn just about every major character at both Marvel and DC Comics. Art was produced for Gerry Conway story "War On The Thirty-Sixth Floor!" and features members of Fantastic Four villains The Frightful Four (The Wizard, Sandman and Trapster specifically) infiltrating the Fantastic Four's headquarters The Baxter Building. All three villains are seen in three of the five panels, The Wizard appears by himself in one (in a close-up) and Trapster appears by himself in another. Fantastic Four member The Human Torch (Johnny Storm) appears in small image w/his back turned in last panel. Art has numerous editorial lt. blue pencil notations at margins and has had entire first panel replaced w/different Buckler art and second to last panel has had word balloon replaced. Additional text edit in second panel. These last two corrections have aged somewhat at edges. Top and bottom margins has aged tape strip at center. Fine overall.
