Item Description
12x18" Masonite board sign w/silk-screened design on the front has original attached 23" long wood pole for insertion in home produce garden. c. 1942. Text reads "This Is A Victory Garden - Pests...Keep Out!" and depicts Donald as a farmer saying "Scram" to a hen and worm. Made by W.L. Stensgaard & Associates Inc. Moderate edge wear w/small chip to top and bottom left corners. Top left corner also has 1" area w/some paint loss and additional small chip. Sign's surface shows other scattered wear/aging but colors remain bright and strong. Pole was originally held in place by two nails, one remains firmly attached while the other is bent/loose but could be easily replaced for a more sturdy reinforcement. Fine. Rare and only the second we've seen in our 46 years.
