Item Description
c. 1960s. 9x17.5x26”wide wood base has two stair step shelves covered in artificial grass with a total of seven monkeys. Each is 8.5” tall in seated position w/felt faces and hands wearing felt sombreros and vests. Five of the seven hold plastic instruments, one has congo drums and bass drum, and one has two plastic balls in hands. A lightbulb is in each corner. Originally issued in wood and glass case with coin mechanism. Dime operated machine was a musical novelty and played three songs in a Mexican musical style. No longer plays music, but otherwise lights and works well allowing either two or three monkeys at a time to move or all at once and also slow down or speed up by use of rheostat knobs on reverse. Guitar in front row and coronet in back row have split, easily re-glued. Bit of lt. aging and dust soil, otherwise Fine/VF. Wonderful design. Ready for display.
