Item Description
13.5x20.5x6.5" deep cardboard window display box contains playset, ©1966 NPP. Considered by collectors to be among the top Batman collectibles from the 1960s, this is a near complete boxed set. Set includes both authentic hand-painted figures of Batman, Robin, Wonder Woman and Superman as well as one of two configurations of solid-color figures of Thunderbolt, Keltor and Mouseman w/cardboard holder w/printed names as issued (other configuration consisted of Brainstorm, Joker and Keyman). Also included in set is robot, solar ray weapon, "Bat Plane" and "Bat Car" (Batmobile). Batmobile is free-wheeling. Wonder Woman is missing ring of fire and tip of Mouseman's needle is off (as is often the case), but set is o/w 100% complete and all original as issued. Obtained directly from the person who purchased this set in 1966 and is one of only a few known original state sets and is not one of the sets pieced together over the years. Box has even aging and some scattered lt. wear/small creases to die-cut border around window, which is loose along left/right and bottom margins, though window remains attached at top margin. Two spots from tape and .25" crease at lower left. Few tiny traces of missing surface paper due to insects on white areas which blends somewhat. Closure tab on lid has .25" and .5" tears at sides. Illustrated interior/bkg. has some aging and Bat Plane has come loose from original mid-air display. Box is Fine overall and still displays nicely. Aside from missing tip to Mouseman's needle, contents are NM as factory-issued. Very rare and desirable. Gary Keller Collection.
