Item Description
16.25x55.75x13" deep wire rack for DC Comics. Rack dates to Summer of Fall, 1941 (not Fall, 1939 as previously stated) and has 10 slots designed to hold comic books, each slot has 2x4-1/8" tin litho attachment w/DC Comics comic book titles - "Action Comics, Detective Comics, Superman, Batman, Flash Comics, Adventure Comics, All-American Comics, More Fun Comics, All Star Comics" and "World's Finest Or All Flash Quarterly" names. Rack displayed the very first year of the following superhero characters - Batman, Flash, Green Lantern, Spectre, Hawkman, Dr. Fate, Atom and Hourman and is among the earliest DC Comics display racks. Wire rack has some wear and traces of oxidation but VG/Fine overall. Tin litho name attachments show some lt. aging, w/moderate wear to edges of "Adventure Comics, More Fun Comics" and "World's Finest Or All Flash Quarterly" attachments. "Detective Comics" attachment also has some wear, but this blends somewhat w/black bkg. Attachments are Fine to VF. In the past we have sold a similar rack w/only seven slots for $5,050, but this 10 slot example is the best and rarest comic book rack we've ever seen or offered and a must-have display piece for the comic book collector that would be a real showstopper if period comics were added for display. Franco Toscanini Collection.
