Item Description
This incredible 27x41" original release one-sheet for series of 17 cartoons produced by Fleischer Studios and released in movie theaters by Paramount Pictures from 1941-1943. Widely considered to be some of the best work to emerge from Paramount's cartoon division, these cartoons helped add to the mythology of Superman as we know him today. Poster is ©1941 Paramount Pictures Inc. Paramount did not issue individual posters for each cartoon instead opting to create this stock one-sheet w/a blank imprint area at bottom left where the individual cartoon titles could be written in or printed. This poster features unused marquee area. Poster features superb art featuring large image of Superman w/comic panels behind him and large "Amazing! Startling! Superman Is Here In Technicolor" text. Additional text reads "A Fleischer Studios Cartoon By Arrangement By Action Comics And Superman Magazines - Superman Comic Strip Created By Jerome Siegel And Joe Shuster" text. Printed by Morgan Litho Corp. of Cleveland, OH. Originally folded, poster has had some professional restoration along fold lines and at fold crease intersections. Additionally, there has been some scattered color touch-ups to some yellow areas of poster, but these are only noticeable upon very close inspection. Aside from fold crease intersection and fold lines on Superman's thigh and chest, just a small spot of restoration is visible on his "S" symbol. Margins have also had some scattered restoration (mainly at fold lines), but these all blend very well and also are noticeable only upon close inspection. As linen-mounted, poster now displays VF overall. This poster remains one of the most sought after posters in the hobby and has crossover appeal to both movie poster, animation and comic book collectors. Framed, this rare poster would easily become the centerpiece of any Superman collection. Franco Toscanini Collection.
