Item Description
Lot of four original large 11.75x15.75" glossy bw photos by Jacques Verrier. All date to the late 1960s and each features "The Godfather of Soul" James Brown. Photos show him performing w/band in bkg., dancing around microphone stand, on his knees during a performance as if overcome by emotion and reaching out at the end of a performance to touch the hand of a female concert-goer. Photos were taken by Verrier and used in a exhibition entitled "A Look At The Music Hall" which captured the years 1966-1976 through a selection of music hall performances. Each photo has "Photo Jacques Verrier" imprint at lower right and backs have his photographer studio stamp. Additionally, each photo has "Olympia" theater name at lower left. Photos show moderate handling wear along margins, w/numerous small creases and tears. This is most noticeable on photo of Brown performing w/band as clear tape has been added to top margin. Good/VG. Rest are VG-Fine overall w/some added cloth tape repairs on back of all but photo of Brown dancing, which has small surface paper lift. Photos would make for a nice display if framed.
