Item Description
Large and impressive Italian-made game in 17.25x20.75x4" deep cardboard frame/tray features stunning art (signed at lower left by artist Minuti) featuring Batman in red/blue costume punching large, Incredible Hulk-like monster w/"C" on its chest and skull belt buckle. The monster's head is a separate, die-cut cardboard piece and when knob at lower left is turned, Batman's arm (which is another separate, die-cut piece) swings into its jaw. When this is done, the elaborate electrical mechanics on reverse cause the monster's head to pop off (head is attached to board w/peg that fits into die-cut hole), revealing Batman villains The Joker, The Riddler and The Penguin all crammed within. A die-cut circle beneath the large "Batman" title has opaque backing and when monster's head is knocked off, it triggers a light that reveals a batsymbol and games buzzes. Made in Mexico, but an officially licensed item as right side panel has 1966 National Periodical Publications, Inc. copyright. Frame/tray shows lt. wear and moderate age spotting. VG/Fine. Game surface has some scattered small age spots, but these blend to an extent. Borders were once attached to frame/tray and shows glue residue, but no surface paper pulls as glue dried over the years. Surface displays VF. Inner mechanics w/wires were tested and all functions work, though mechanics are a bit loose and need secured to operate on a consistent basis. Elaborate and beautifully illustrated game. Rare and first we've seen. *Addition-a collector source informed us this unmarked game was Italian instead of Mexican issue and was activated by a dart fired from a generic gun (not included).
