Item Description
Original cardboard box w/illustrated lid contains exceptional 4x7x8" tin litho toy. Made in Japan by Nomura, 1950s. Lid has lt. edge wear w/corner creases and some scattered marker on one side panel. Evenly aged. Box remains tight w/great color and complete w/cardboard insert. VF. Base of toy features great illustrations, front depicts two control room operators initiating launch sequence while other sides feature launch scene, launching area and screen showing rocket traveling through space w/"Jupiter" text below. On the top of the base is a 3D control room operator seated in front of console w/radar screen and next to him is the launching tower w/clips to hold plastic bodied rockets w/rubber tips. Toy is activated by placing a rocket in the launching tower which causes the radar screen to flash, loud signal siren is produced and the operator's arms move as if manning the controls. Missing one of two rockets, but toy works and rocket ejects forcefully. Toy has a few tiny paint nicks/scratches but remains totally bright and glossy. NM. Exceptional battery-operated space toy.
