Item Description
Original 8x10" glossy photo of 21 member team in uniforms posing on a ball field w/spectators in stands in the bkg. c. 1946, their second consecutive year as league champions. Standing in the back row, 4th from the right is Ray Brown. He played for this team from 1946-1948 after spending many years in the Negro Leagues, mostly playing for the Homestead Grays. He was inducted into the National Baseball HOF in 2006. At center of back row is the manager, Armando Marsans. He has a long and storied career in basebal. Marsans played winter baseball in the Cuban League from 1905 to 1928 and was a Major League outfielder from 1911 to 1918. He was one of ten players inducted into the Cuban Baseball HOF in its 1939 inaugural class. Photo has scattered margin wear and some rippling as well as some tiny traces of emulsion wear mostly to bkg. areas. Photo remains clean and glossy w/sharp images. Fine.
