Item Description
"Superman Und Batman" featured reprints of Superman and Batman stories originally published by DC Comics and translated and reprinted for the West German market by Ehapa Verlag GmbH. Now known as Egmont Ehapa, they are one of the largest publishers of children's material in Germany. They published "Superman Und Batman" in various editions from the 1960s through the 1980s. Offered here is an early 1970s advertising sign measuring 19.75x23.75" (26" tall counting wooden legs). Sign is masonite w/a high-gloss laminate front depicting Batman (w/o batsymbol on chest) as drawn by Carmine Infantino in the late 1960s and Superman in a style similar to the drawings of Kurt Schaffenberger. Sign also features older 1960s comic book title logos, a practice Egmont Ehapa continued for some time afterwards. Additional German text roughly translates to "The Comic With Pow!" Sign is attached to wooden legs w/three screws on each side and shows some lt. wear by these as well as numerous hairline surface scratches but sign remains bright and glossy. Fine overall but still displays nicely. First we've seen.
