Item Description
Card is 3.5x5-5/8". Front is lightly tanned except for four diagonals where it was once held into an album by the four corners. Card shows ten people in the foreground of the White House. Reverse has cancellation but no date. Inked message reads "Dear Marie: Kindly Pull Up On The Piece Of Baby Ribbon At Top Of Card And You Will Be Surprised To See Who Is In The White House..." When the ribbon is pulled a 3.25x3.5" tall embossed stiff cardboard portrait of Taft appears. Reverse has a cardboard easel which would allow the piece to stand up if the easel were bent which it has not been. Has additional personal message written in ink on the easel strip. Likely c. 1909.
