Item Description
10x13x1" deep vacuform plastic w/cardboard backing designed like framed picture w/high relief portrait of Frankenstein. Simulated plaque on front reads "Third Place Master Monster Maker Contest 1964 - Sponsors Aurora Plastic Corp./Universal Pictures Co. Inc./Famous Monsters Of Filmland Magazine." The winning models in this contest were featured in issue #32 of the Famous Monsters Magazine. Plastic has wear at edges w/a few .25" to .5" splits and numerous small chips at corners. Upper left and lower right corners have 1/8" edge margins missing (.5", .75" and 1.5" sections). Color rub to Frankenstein's nose and brow. VG. Frankenstein image is striking. All the prizes from this contest are rare. Only the third we've offered in our 47 years. Comes w/8.5x11" certificate designed to look like aged document. Certificate reads "This Is To Certify That (Jeff Little) Having Faithfully Complied With The Rules And Regulations Governing Participation In The Master Monster Maker Contest, And Having Submitted For Consideration His Customized Version Of An Aurora Movie Monster Model, Shall, As A Result Of His Diligence And Expertness, Now And Forever After, Be Recognized As, And Be Entitled To Be Addressed As Master Monster Maker. To This Testimony, The Following Parties, Acting In Joint Sponsorship Bear Willing Witness." Certificate is then signed by dealer w/facsimile Aurora Plastics Corp., Universal Pictures Co. Inc. and Famous Monsters of Filmland Magazine signatures. Simulated skull and crossbones and bat seals. Heavy and obvious wear at margins w/chips and small tears. 1.25" streak of insect damage at left. Still displays VG.
