8.5x11" sheet of animation paper has 6x6" image area done in pencil w/colored pencil accents showing Superman from the waist up, partially submerged in water and struggling upwards just before writhing electric wire coils around his neck to drag him further down. This was the seventh of the seventeen animated "Superman" cartoons created by Fleischer Studios. The story covers Superman's adventures in stopping a madman from destroying Manhattan w/electronically induced earthquakes. It was directed by Dave Fleischer and produced by Max Fleischer w/animation by Steve Muffatti and Arnold Gillespie. It was distributed by Paramount Pictures and originally released on May 15, 1942. Art has some additional pencil production notations by art and along margins. Scattered handling wear/aging w/.5 tear along top margin. All Fleischer Superman art is rare and this is an exceptional example, fully showing Superman's iconic "S" symbol.
