Item Description
Gum, Inc. released the classic Lone Ranger gum card set in 1940 but two years prior to this, after obtaining the license to the Lone Ranger, they produced Lone Ranger bubblegum which was sold from display boxes. This 1938 countertop display box is 8.25x10.25x2.5" deep. Fantastic lid art of Lone Ranger on rearing Silver w/Tonto portrait at lower right next to 1¢ printed price that appears inside an arrowhead w/text "Heap Big Chew!" Lone Ranger portrait image is repeated on each side panel of both the box lid and box bottom along w/name in rope script. Obvious wear and aging. Lid has edge and corner splits w/archival tape repairs on inside. Small pieces missing from corner areas. Box bottom also has crease/tears w/repairs and some moisture staining on underside. Corners remain tight and side panel art is clean and bold. Overall just Good but only the second we've offered in our 46 years. The other was in higher grade and w/insert card and sold for $2,300.
