Item Description
This ring was issued in 1941 by Kellogg's All-Rye Flakes and saw extremely limited distribution only in California. The ring is brass with adjustable bands and features a Viking sailing ship on each side. Top has Valric wearing a winged helmet along with a tiny brass rivet holding a small magnifying glass within a brass frame. A small pin on the bottom edge of the ring allows the magnifying glass to be locked into position thus magnifying Valric's portrait or the glass can be swung to the side for use in magnifying objects. The rim of the magnifier has four dark dots of luster loss, each about 1/16" long. The left side of the base, at its mid-point is missing an 1/8" wide by .25" tall small of brass luster. This area is dark metal. It is below the image of the ship but includes the lower tips of the oars and wavy water. The opposite side of the ring and ring top beneath the magnifier has all its glossy and bright brass luster. One of the rarest and most desirable premium rings. Including this example we've been able to offer three examples over a total of four times in five decades. Our 99% Mint example in Auction #202 realized $8222.00 and our 95% Mint example in Auction #204 realized $6325.00. Rare and one of only three known to us.
