Item Description
Original matte finish photo is 11x16" and has been mounted to a larger sturdy backing board. 14 are pictured, 13 in baseball uniforms for the university team. Also attached at bottom margin of photo and to the board are typed sheets, one with game-by-game breakdown of the team's season record and the other lists the players' names. The name list is numbered w/matching inked numbers on the images to identify each. Also at bottom center is small title paper reading "Baseball Team 1902." Featured in the photo lying on either side of front center seated player are Wesley Branch Rickey and his brother. Branch was a player, manager and executive who was elected to the HOF in 1967. He was known for breaking Major League Baseball's color barrier by signing African American player Jackie Robinson and for drafting the first Hispanic superstar, Roberto Clemente. Branch's long and storied career in Major League baseball began as a player for the St. Louis Browns in 1905 and ended when he retired as General Manager of the Pittsburgh Pirates in 1955. Photo has some scattered nicks/scratches more noticeable on the upper bkg. than the team image itself and no issues at all to the Branch image. Large and impressive photo. VG.
