Item Description
2.5" with metal back and bar pin and name of maker on curl L.A. Stamp & Stat. Co. Celluloid has a couple of scattered pinpoint raised dots on the surface noticeable only to the touch but still displays Mint. This casino opened in 1955 and welcomed African Americans unlike the other segregated casinos. The 1955 opening was an immediate hit drawing Davis, Belafonte, Pearl Bailey, Nat King Cole, Armstrong, Eartha Kitt and many more. However the casino soon lost their liquor license and closed so this button would date from Sammy's second appearance sometime after May 24, 1955 but before November, 1955. Rare and first we've seen.
