10-7/8x13-5/8" stiff paper, four-page menu has choice color front and back covers w/35 different comic strip characters. Included are - Superman, Tarzan, The Lone Ranger, Li'l Abner, Dagwood, Popeye, Joe Palooka, Donald Duck, Dick Tracy, Buck Rogers, Terry and the Pirates and Henry. Menu is for "Les Comiques," a comic strip-themed dining room in the Hollywood Plaza Hotel. c. mid-1940s. Inside menu includes art of Superman and Li'l Abner w/text for "Kickapoo Julep." Art is reprinted from comic strip panels. Trace of lt. dust soiling w/lt. wear/aging along top margin. Fine. Rare and only the second example we've seen in our 46 years. Comes w/8.5x11" single-sided dinner menu sheet for same restaurant and is dated Oct. 21, 1945. This sheet also features images of Superman, Li'l Abner, Mutt and Jeff, Blondie and others. Scattered wear along top margin, but this could be matted out for a VF display.
