Item Description
Although the piece does not reference the G.A.R. it is documented in the American Numismatic Journal as such. The piece is 2.5” tall with brass figural steer head having a loop at the bottom of the bar pin and suspending a metal piece representing a silver ingot. This piece is inscribed “925 Fine/Colorado/1892 Oz.” The inscription uses the year of 1892 to represent the weight of the ingot. The piece was used at the 26th National Encampment in Washington Sept, 1892. The ingot is actually white metal not silver. NM displaying Mint.
