Sarah Young followed her home regiment from Ithaca New York in 1862 and was assigned as a Volunteer Army Nurse in field hospitals. She served until the end of the war becoming “Beloved And Famous Throughout The Union Army.” President Lincoln toured her hospital just a week before his assassination. She published a book about her army life in 1897. This is a real photo 7/8” button from the time of her death in 1908. Reverse has lightly stained Western Badge backpaper.
