Item Description
1.25” with lightly tanned backpaper by Bastian. Front has choice color rising sun with burst accent rays above. Bit of light tan tone on the sun but quite minor and the piece still displays glossy and extremely Fine. “Creation” was one of the illusion concessions on the amusement strip of the fair known as The Pike. For 50¢ spectators rode a boat and journeyed into a dark cave taking them back to the beginning of time. Illusions included floating heads, moving platforms and murals depicting well-know historical scenes and personalities. At the end of the ride from the dark a voice boomed “Let There Be Light” and the story of creation from Genesis began. In spite of the thousands of buttons that must have been given away few have survived and it is rare. Also see 1904 celluloid thermometer pair #254.
