1-3/8" silvered brass watch fob plus 4" lightly worn original leather strap. Pictured within a geometric rim is nude young women shivering as she stands in cold water accented by bullrushes. Reverse has text "Dryers Wines & Liquors 319 Hennepin Ave. Minneapolis." Slight loss of silvering on each side but condition remains extremely Fine. Painted over three summers 1910-1912 by French artist Paul Chabas. The painting was exhibited in Paris in 1912 where it won a medal but did not create any sensation. The next year it was displayed in the window of a Chicago art gallery and was spotted Mayor Carter Harrison, Jr. who charged the owner of the gallery with indecency. The art dealer won the court case which made the painting famous. Only example we've seen as a watch fob.
