Item Description
Lot of nine 2.5" long tin litho rings, each in 1.5x3.5" translucent paper bag. This is how the 24 rings in this set were inserted in 1948 cereal boxes. Rings are "Popeye, Olive Oyl, Wimpy, Swee'Pea, Snuffy Smith, Jiggs, Casper, Fritz and The Phantom." Each reverse is marked "Post's Toasties Corn Flakes" and backs are marked ©1949 KFS. Jiggs and Fritz have tape strips on edges, rest remain sealed as issued. A few tiny scattered brown dots on the packs, not the rings themselves. Rings remain essentially Mint as issued. Comes w/graphic newspaper ad showing 19 of the 24 rings, including eight of the nine in this lot, including The Phantom. From the Carl Lobel Collection.
