Item Description
Each is 7/8” with W&H paper. Each features a different rim design although three have an identical real photo portrait of McKinley while the fourth has the same image but cut into a square on photographic paper and sealed beneath the celluloid within the diamond design. This one has some tan coloration around the photo but otherwise all are totally clean and essentially Mint as made with full gloss. It’s quite possible these buttons were sent to Sen. Charles Dick as he was the contact person for the Republican National Committee as well as being McKinley’s campaign manager. While the rwb/gold designs on these four buttons are quite common this format using a real photo is unique in our experience, (except for larger buttons in Auction #206). Sen. Charles Dick Collection.
