Item Description
Original US 12.25x12.25" sealed Epic record 30615. The Yardbirds live album that was briefly released in 1971. It features songs recorded at a Yardbirds performance at the Anderson Theatre in New York City on March 30, 1968. The album is notable for its inclusion of the song "I'm Confused," which was later re-recorded by Jimmy Page (w/modified lyrics as "Dazed And Confused") w/his post-Yardbirds band Led Zeppelin in 1968. Although a live album, CBS/Epic Records overdubbed crowd noises from bullfights and other sound effects onto the original tracks against the band's wishes, resulting in The Yardbirds rejecting the album for release upon its original completion in mid-1968. Epic released it in 1971 in response to Led Zeppelin's success in the marketplace. Jimmy Page threatened legal action against the label for releasing "Live Yardbirds" w/o authorization (he took ownership of the Yardbirds name following the band's 1968 dissolution), and Epic quickly withdrew it. Authentic copies of "Live Yardbirds" are thus quite scarce. Tiny corner tip wear and an 1/8" hole punch at upper left corner but o/w still tightly sealed as issued. Rare as sealed.
