Item Description
Lot of four 11x17" Bainbridge Boards, each w/clear plastic overlay affixed to backs w/tape. Each feature original pencil illustration of telephone design for proposed Tyco Toys, Inc. telephone that was not actually produced. Each has Tyco sticker label at lower right corner w/design name and brief product description. These include – "Don’t Touch Garfield" which featured Garfield's arm moving as if to swipe at your hand when handset was picked up; "Sic'Em Garfield" which features Garfield in an attack pose w/his tail counter-weighted so as to swing back and forth; "Kick Back Garfield" which shows him relaxing w/eyes closed, his eyes would open when handset was picked up; "Bean Bag Garfield" which featured a soft, bean-filled body w/hard handset in his back. Each has "Product Dynamics Ltd." name and "11-90" date inked at lower right, partially visible under Tyco label. First design has moisture staining to Tyco label only, all art remains NM. Wonderful, whimsical designs. Unique. From the personal collection of Lee Volpe, Tyco Toy’s Manager, Director, and VP of New Product Development (1982 –1994) who was involved from the beginning of the development of Dino-Riders, Garfield telephones and several other Tyco toys.
