Item Description
8.5x11" typed letter on law office letterhead is dated Dec. 18, 1963 and concerns extending the term of a member of the House of Representatives from two to four years. Letter mentions President Eisenhower's desire to see this done and Nixon's belief that half of Congress should be elected every two years, though he asks letter recipient that this not be made public. Letter is addressed to Donna McLaughlin, daughter of Harry McLaughlin, a noted local York, PA. newsman and Nixon has signed "Richard Nixon" in blue ink. Folded as mailed. Third paragraph has 2" area of pencil marking and tiny pencil mark by recipient's address. VF w/signature remaining bold and Exc. Harry McLaughlin Collection. Comes with Hake's COA and JSA LOA.
