Item Description
16x24" poster features bold, colorful vignettes on each side of images of McKinley and Roosevelt. Text below candidates has McKinley July 12, 1900 quote "The American Flag Has Not Been Planted In Foreign Soil To Acquire More Territory But For Humanity’s Sake." Top of left side reads "1896." Three vignettes appear below date w/captions below each. First is closed factory "Gone Democratic." Next is "A Run On The Bank" w/panicked public trying to get their money. Bottom shows starving prisoners, victims of "Spanish Rule In Cuba." Right side has "1900" date at top w/illustration of smokestacks, steamships and locomotives w/caption "Gone Republican." Next is "A Run To The Bank" w/the public depositing their savings. Bottom right shows a teacher in a Cuban "Public School" and industrious Cuban farmers in the field captioned "American Rule In Cuba." Right margin is missing three tiny .25" dots of paper. The blank reverse has a total of 23" of archival tape around three edges to repair 1" margin tears. The image side remains extremely bright and clean. A rarity and among the very best 1900 campaign posters. Auction sales well exceed $1000.
