Item Description
14.75x16.75” wood frame has double archival mat w/10.75x12.5”opening. Scene in India ink and watercolor has Tracy smiling at left and moon at right w/ Tracy Jr. and his wife Moon Maid in silhouette hovering above in air cars. The earth can be seen in the distance, with North America clearly delineated. Art has applied “Chester Gould” hand inked signature at bottom and applied © 1967 Chicago Tribune sticker just beneath. Frame is worn around edges, image area is Exc. Tracy inventor character Diet Smith created the air car in the strip in 1966, continuing Gould’s interest in science fiction and the 1960’s race to the moon. This is an historic early example of that vehicle. This specialty art was done for the head of a Chicago ad agency who was a personal friend of Chester Gould’s. The nicest and largest color Dick Tracy specialty original by his creator we have ever offered.
