Item Description
3.25x5" receipt for "Texaco Service" gas station in York, PA. has been signed in pencil on blank reverse by baseball legend George Herman Ruth, Jr., better known as Babe Ruth. Signed receipt comes w/newspaper clipping stating that Ruth was traveling through West York borough and stopped at a gas station where a high school senior recognized him and had him sign a piece of paper. c. 1936-1939 as article mentions Ruth as a former baseball star (Ruth effectively retired from professional baseball in 1936) and receipt has "193_" date area blank. .25" tear at edge where receipt has been folded into quarters and as such, there is a pinpoint spot of wear at center, though this does not directly impact Ruth's signature, which still displays VF/Exc. A bold, clear signature. Comes with Hake's COA and JSA LOA.
