Item Description
DC. June/July 1971. Len Wein and Virgil North stories. Bernie Wrightson cover and art. Off-white pages. Len Wein came up with the idea for the character and later recalled, "I didn't have a title for it, so I kept referring to it as 'that swamp thing I'm working on.' And that's how it got its name!" Berni Wrightson designed the character's visual image, using a rough sketch by Wein as a guideline. The short story was so popular that in 1972, the characters were updated and "Swamp Thing" got his own title. This copy has lt. wear on spine and edges and is Fine/VF. A nice key issue. See item #1862 for Bernie Wrightson's ten issue run and item #0000 for the original art used in issue #9 page 8.
