Item Description
Lot of ten, measuring between 13.5x18.5" and 19x28". All feature the art of Gary Gilmore, the man responsible for creating all of the NYHC Punk posters/flyers and album covers under the name Wrongway Flyers. Much of his work is a mash-up of social commentary, current events, politics and culture. Gilmore started doing flyers for local shows around 1992. Gilmore's art could be found in just about every music/book store, and in music venues across the city. Posters were issued between 1997-2002 and include such acts as - The Misfits, Danzig, Samhain, Alice Cooper, The Damed, Electric Frankenstein, Madball, Hatebreed, Madball, One King Down, All Out War, The Chance, Dope, The Damned, Turbo Negro, ADZ, Killing Time, Blanks 77 as well a poster for "Release" documentary that featured Less Than Jake, Bouncing Souls, Blink -182, Bad Religion and more and "The European Hardcore Party Part III" that featured Cro-Mags, One Night Stand and others. Some of the great imagery includes The Munsters and The Addams Family together on one poster along w/Sally from "The Nightmare Before Christmas"; Mr. T holding Bill Clinton while a Smurf urinates in his mouth, bare-breasted women flanking Barnabas Collins from "Dark Shadows"; Fat Albert eating Cosby Kids Russell and Rudy; Joey Ramone's Birthday Spectacular; as well as two promoting Electric Frankenstein - one w/Bride sitting on shoulder of rampaging giant Frankenstein robot and another showing Frankenstein painting self portrait in Norman Rockwell style. This last poster was for a signing of an Electric Frankenstein art book. Some posters are silk-screened prints and all have been signed and hand-numbered by Gilmore. Exc.-NM overall.
