Item Description
23.25x34" glossy paper poster for trio of 1982 New York area performances by Ozzy Osbourne as part of his "Diary Of A Madman" tour. Poster has a day-glo green image of Osbourne looming over New York City w/text reading "Madman Loose In NY Area! Ozzy Osbourne Live." Concerts are listed as - Mar. 28 at Nassau Coliseum, Mar. 29 at The Meadowlands and April 5 at Madison Square Garden. On Mar. 19, 1982 while in Florida for the "Diary Of A Madman" tour, a plane piloted by Andrew Aycock (the band's tour bus driver) carrying guitarist Randy Rhoads crashed while performing low passes over the band's tour bus. In a prank turned deadly, the wing of the aircraft clipped the bus, grazed a tree, and crashed into the attached garage of a nearby mansion killing Rhoads, Aycock, and the band's hairdresser, Rachel Youngblood. Understandably, Osbourne was saddened by the loss and fell into a deep depression, but the show must go on and ex-Gillan guitarist Bernie Tormé replaced Rhoads when the tour resumed. Torme's tenure w/the band would last less than a month, Osbourne selecting Brad Gillis (who went on to be a Night Ranger guitarist) to finish the tour. The tour culminated in the release of the 1982 live album, "Speak Of The Devil" recorded at the Ritz in New York City. A live tribute album for Rhoads was also later released. Poster has some noticeable handling wear along margins due to the poster's dark color. Fine, but would frame for an Exc. appearance.
