Item Description
Trimmed to 3.5x4.75" glossy postcard has 13 member team in full uniform. Bottom has printed caption "Homestead Grays Of 1930 3-20-30" with photographer name at lower right "Harrison Hot Springs Ark." National Baseball HOF players in photo include: Judy Johnson, Oscar Charleston, Smokey Joe Williams, and Cumberland Posey. Also pictured is Bennie Charleston, Oscar's brother, in the only year he played in the Negro Leagues. Reverse side has paper from scrapbook removal over most of surface. Left and right side margin edges have each been trimmed .25" though full image of all figures remains. Center has lt. horizontal hairline emulsion cracks just visible in reflected light. Image area is Good and while trimmed, still a historic piece w/great image. From the Richard Merkin Collection and comes with Hake's COA.
