Item Description
This large 3" dia. by .25" thick medal has high relief bust surrounded by text "James K. Polk President Of The United States. 1845." Reverse shows crossed peace pipe and hatchet along with pair of Caucasian and Indian shaking hands plus text "Peace And Friendship." Very light general wear with small black mark on extreme edge of reverse at 8 o'clock. Item comes with small envelope inscribed with name of Presidential Coin & Antique Co identifying this as lot No.282 in their "Gold Medal Sale Auction #51/Dec. 14, 1991."
