Item Description
14x22.25” first printing (second state) poster for May 30-June 1, 1968 concerts at the Carousel Ballroom, San Francisco featuring Grateful Dead, Charlie Musselwhite and Petris. Vivid art by Alton Kelley uses photographic image of skulls stacked on primitive racks and is one of the classic Grateful Dead images of the psychedelic era. Some examples of this poster have had the days of the concert blacked out as they were incorrectly listed (they line-up with 1969 not 1968, which is the year the concert actually took place). All posters like this are known as "Second State" as is the case here. However, this blends with the border design and is really not distracting. Moderate margin/corner wear but bright and clean overall. Fine. Classic concert poster.
