Item Description
This elusive and desirable card is from a set of 144 featuring players from the Pacific Coast League. This card is for silent film superstar Roscoe "Fatty" Arbuckle who purchased the PCL team the Vernon Tigers the year this set was issued, 1919. Just a few years later Arbuckle would be implicated in one of the most notorious Hollywood scandals of all time. Though he was acquitted, he never returned to his superstar status. This card is 1.75x3" and features the humorous image of Arbuckle in baseball uniform pretending to eat a baseball as if it were an apple. Blank backed card but this has writing w/info regarding Arbuckle added long ago. Designated by SGC as being from the "Richard Merkin Collection" and comes with Hake's COA. This is one of only two in the SGC registry. The other, graded SGC VG 40, sold earlier this year for $5,288.
