Auction #204 - Part II
Item numbers 1447 through 3204 in auction 204.
c.1963, second largest version of three sizes. 10x15x2.75" deep box has nice lid painting of marines planting American flag on Iwo Jima. Lid has some lt. aging with bit of tanning here and there, bit of wear around edges and 1" bit of missing surface paper on left side panel. Still displays Fine. 205 plastic pieces. Contents include : rock mountain, tanks, troop cars, LST. boats, rubber boats, howitzers, cannons, machine guns, mortars, bombed out buildings, flags, trees, barricades, accessories. Although we have not counted everything, the hand-painted American and Japanese soldiers total almost 100 so set is most likely complete. One small platform appears to have had a few figures glued to recesses as designed, as recesses show lt. glue residue/paint loss. Other than this defect, contents appear overall Exc. A wonderfully designed and elaborate set. (I - $400 to $700)
