Item Description
Each is approximately 7 3/8x9.25" glossy photo with “Archivo Bohemia” date stamp on reverse. Hank Thompson photo has closeup image of him in Habana Cuban’s uniform and is dated 1947 and August 28, 1949 on reverse. Lennie Pearson photo shows him practicing batting in outfield wearing Habana Cuban’s uniform in stadium as two players watch in background. Photo is dated Feb. 4, 1950. Both photos have a few lt. handling creases, mostly just visible in reflected light. Glossy and VF overall. Hank Thompson was primarily a third baseman and played with the Kansas City Monarchs in 1943, 1946-1948; the St. Louis Browns in 1947; and the New York Giants from 1949 to 1956. On August 16, 1950 he became the first player since 1939 to hit two inside-the-park home runs in one game. He had his best season in 1953 when he batted .302. Lennie Pearson played Negro League ball beginning with the Newark Eagles in 1937 and batted .382 in 1938, the third highest in the league. He hit .396 in 1940 to lead the league. He played his first season in the Cuban Winter League in 1946-47 and in 1949 became player/manager of the Baltimore Elite Giants where he hit .332 and managed the team to a title.
