Each is 3.5x5-3/8". First postcard is c. early 1900s. No.5220 published by Adolph Selige St. Louis. Wonderful photo shows man in carnival costume in center holding megaphone with two Native Americans with full headdresses standing next to him. Caption is "Three Of Our Stars, Greens Nebraska Indian Base Ball Team. Only Ones On Earth. Established 1897. Guy W. Green, Sole Owner And Manager." Tiny bit of surface wear on front and trace of lt. dust soil on blank reverse but unused and VF. Next is real photo postcard sent from Marion, Kansas with 1908 postmark with image on front of ten players in uniform along with man in suit on sidewalk in front of hotel. Gloves, balls, bat and catcher's mitt are clearly visible. Trace of lt. aging, VF. The Nebraska Indians were established in 1897 and manager Green traveled with the team through 1907 as they crisscrossed the country playing town teams. From 1898, its first winning season, to at least 1914 the team won 1,237 games with 336 losses and 11 ties. Nice pair. From the Richard Merkin Collection and comes with Hake's COA.
