Item Description
4.75x8" glossy card has full figure image of Chocolate in boxing attire with nice blue fountain pen inscription in Spanish signed twice using his real name and fighting name “Eligio Sardinas Kid Chocolate”. Text at bottom has his real name and calls him “World’s Greatest Boxer”. Text also includes manager’s New York City address and phone. Photo is lightly but evenly yellowed with age with trace of lt. dust soil, lower right corner tip blank margin edge is missing barely noticeable .25" sliver of paper but otherwise Fine with superb image and bold signature. Chocolate was Junior Light Weight Champion from 1931-1933 and the NY World Featherweight Champion from 1932 to 1934. He won a total of 131 bouts, losing nine with six draws. From the Richard Merkin Collection and comes with Hake’s COA and JSA LOA.
